Phone call between Chinese and US leaders initiated by US; atmosphere positive, friendly, and constructive: Chinese FM

In response to media inquiries about the phone call between the Chinese and US heads of state on Monday night - specifically, whether it was initiated by China or at the invitation of the US, how long it lasted, and how China evaluates the outcome of the call, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday that since President Trump's second term, the Chinese and US heads of state have maintained frequent exchanges.
"As far as I know, the call was initiated by the US side, and the atmosphere was positive, friendly, and constructive. Communication between the two heads of state on issues of common concern is very important for the stable development of China-US relations," Mao said.
