BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China is always a force for peace, stability and progress in the world, a Ministry of National Defense spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Jiang Bin made the remarks at a press conference while responding to a query regarding international think tanks' and foreign media outlets' reaction to China's military parade on Sept. 3 to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Many focused on the country's land-, sea-, and air-based strategic forces as the nuclear triad, unmanned warfare equipment and cyberspace warfare equipment on display.

The parade was an important part of the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Jiang said.

Many of the weapons and equipment on display are the latest ones representing the evolution of modern warfare forms, showcasing the combat capabilities, new-domain and new-quality capabilities, and strategic deterrence strength of the Chinese military system, the spokesperson said.

China has always adhered to a national defense policy that is defensive in nature, and never seeks hegemony or engage in expansion, Jiang said.

China is always a force for peace, stability and progress in the world, said Jiang, adding that the stronger China's army becomes, the more powerful the peaceful forces that restrict wars will be, and the peace and development will be better safeguarded, Jiang said.
