When asked to comment on interpretations by international think tanks and foreign media regarding China's nuclear strike "triad," unmanned combat equipment, and cyberspace operations capability following the military parade on September 3—with some analysts suggesting that China intended to demonstrate that military coercion against it is absolutely impossible—Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin stated on Wednesday that the parade was an important part of the commemorative activities marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He said it comprehensively showcased the new features of the Chinese military in political development in the new era, the new layout of force structure, the new progress in modernization, and the new achievements in combat preparedness.

Jiang noted that many of the weapons and equipment displayed were the latest, representing the evolution of modern warfare, and that some were even key national assets. Collectively, they reflected the Chinese military's capabilities in systematic operations, new domains and new qualities, as well as strategic deterrence. "Only being capable of fighting can one deter a war. We unswervingly adhere to the national defense policy that is defensive in nature, never seek hegemony or expansion, and always serve as a force for peace, stability, and progress in the world. The stronger the Chinese military is, the more powerful the force for peace that constrains war becomes, and the more assured peace and development will be," Jiang said.
