On July 10, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Adviser for Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Touhid Hossain in Kuala Lumpur.

Wang Yi noted that President Xi Jinping and Chief Adviser of the Bangladeshi Interim Government Muhammad Yunus reached important common understandings on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Bangladesh, providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. China has always been committed to promoting strategic cooperation with Bangladesh on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and pursues a policy of good neighborliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, which holds significant importance to build on past achievements and pursue new progress. China supports the interim government of Bangladesh in its governance and backs the efforts of Bangladesh to hold the general election smoothly and successfully and to pursue a development path that suits its national conditions. China is willing to always be a trustworthy good friend, good neighbor and good partner of Bangladesh. Wang Yi stressed that China-Bangladesh cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win. China provides Bangladesh with zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent of its products, creating opportunities for Bangladesh's development. In contrast, the United States imposes a 35 percent tariff on Bangladesh, one of the least developed countries, which is neither reasonable nor ethical.

Wang Yi said that China is committed to building a community with a shared future with its neighbors. As the largest neighbor of South Asian countries, China is willing to join hands with Bangladesh and other South Asian countries to achieve modernization and jointly contribute to the development and revitalization of Asia. The China-Bangladesh-Pakistan Trilateral Vice Foreign Minister/Foreign Secretary meeting was successfully held in Kunming. China looks forward to making joint efforts with Bangladesh and Pakistan to solidly advance the trilateral cooperation and achieve tangible results.

Touhid Hossain said that China is a reliable and trustworthy partner and friend for Bangladesh. Developing friendly cooperation with China is a consensus among the Bangladeshi people. He expressed gratitude for the selfless assistance that China has provided for Bangladesh's development over the years. He stated that Bangladesh firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is ready to learn from China's governance experience, expand friendly cooperation in economy, trade, healthcare and other fields, strengthen regional multilateral coordination and cooperation, and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
