When asked to comment on US President issuing a proclamation on Wednesday barring foreign students from entering the US to attend Harvard, citing national security concerns, and suspending entry under Harvard-hosted student and exchange visitor visas, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday that educational cooperation between China and the US is mutually beneficial. China has consistently opposed politicizing educational cooperation.
Lin noted that relevant actions by the US would only damage its own image and international credibility. China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students and scholars abroad, the spokesperson said.
