When answering a question about whether the US' decision to revoke visas for Chinese students would affect overall China-US relations, including areas such as trade, FM Spokesperson Mao Ning said that China's position on China-US relations has been consistent.

"We hope the US side will meet the Chinese side halfway, take more constructive actions, and do more to promote the sound, stable, and sustainable development of China-US relations," Mao said.

In a statement released on US Department of State on Wednesday, Rubio said that the State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security to aggressively revoke visas for Chinese student, and revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future applications from China.
