In response to an inquiry about whether China is concerned that a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine issue will free up US military resources to further focus on the "Indo-Pacific region" and whether China is concerned that peace in Europe could lead to a more forceful "rebalance to Asia" of the US, Chinese FM spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that China has explained its position on the Ukraine crisis multiple times. "We hope that all parties would work together to address the root causes of the crisis, establish a balanced, effective, and sustainable security architecture, and achieve long-term peace in Europe," Guo said.

Guo emphasized that at the same time, China has always believed the Asia-Pacific region is a high ground for the development of all countries and should not become a chessboard for geopolitical confrontation. China's position on this matter remains consistent and firm, he added.
