The global governance is entering the "Asian time" and the world should listen to Asian voices, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, said on Sunday during a virtual meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Prak Sokhonn.
Solidarity or split, cooperation or confrontation, facing the choice of the time, China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand will hold the BRICS Summit, East Asia Summit, G20 and APEC leaders' informal summit, respectively.
China is willing to join hands with Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand to jointly send a strong message of commitment to peace and development from Asia, release a signal upholding multilateralism, inject more stability into the region and the world, and jointly make Asian contributions to addressing global challenges, Wang said.
Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand stressed that the international society should be united to deal with challenges and develop openly and inclusively. This conforms to the unanimous will of countries in the world to oppose the confrontation between camps and promote stability and prosperity. It reflects a clear will to resist external interference and safeguard strategic autonomy and also demonstrates the firm confidence in advancing regional and multilateral cooperation, according to Wang.
China believes the world should listen to Asian voices, respect Asian position and refer to Asian wisdom. It is believed that Cambodia, as the rotating presidency of ASEAN, will play a unique and constructive role in this regard, Wang said.
Implanting Cold War mentality into Asia and hyping confrontation of camps will undermine the peaceful development for years, and Asian countries should be vigilant and resist those acts together, Wang noted.
China is happy to see countries outside the region play a positive role in regional development but does not accept any actions that undermine regional peace and stability, solidarity and cooperation.
It is believed that countries of the region will uphold an independent position, maintain solidarity amongst ASEAN countries and safeguard the common interests of countries in the region, including China, Wang said.
