China's largest amphibious landing ship, the Changbaishan, arrived in a military port in Zhanjiang in south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday after a multilateral naval disaster relief exercise in Indonesia.

The drill, dubbed 'Komodo,' was sponsored by the Indonesian Navy and joined by 24 warships and 14 aircraft from 17 countries, including China, the United States, Russia and Japan.

The exercise, which concluded on April 3, was divided into three stages: port-and-shore activities, maritime drills, and rescue.

Ji Hongtao, commander of the Chinese participating force, said the drill has improved the Chinese navy's disaster response ability and deepened cooperation with participating countries in unconventional security fields.

The Changbaishan is the country's largest landing ship by gross tonnage and is equipped with an advanced weapons system.
