Beijing, May 8 (CNA) China will soon test launch an indigenous combat drone, or unmanned combat air vehicle, according to a recent report in China's Huanqiu, a state-run online media outlet.

The report cited information gleaned from a military-focused online discussion forum and said that the final assembly of the drone was completed Dec. 13, 2012 in an unnamed aircraft manufacturing site in Jiangxi Province.

Information on the forum said that according to sources close to the matter, the combat drone, named Lijian (meaning sharp arrow or sharp sword), has begun intensive taxi tests and is close to its maiden test flight, which will take place in a different location.

The report said that many other countries have included drone fleets into their future arsenal development plans.
