Intelligence support capability of a Guangzhou MAC radar brigade greatly boosted
PLA Daily 2004-02-09
A radar brigade of the Guangzhou Military Area Command Air Force has greatly boosted its intelligence support capability by conducting online confrontation exercises and radar mobile exercises under near-real war situations.
In light of new requirements for radar intelligence in air raid and anti-air raid operations in future war, the brigade organized its commanders and staff officers at various levels to conduct online near-real war exercises with focus on developing new fighting methods and new training subjects. The reporter saw at its network-training center that information and data shown on dozens of LCDs changed rapidly. Commanders of the "Red Army" and technical backbones of two radar stations of the "Blue Army" were engaged in a fierce online confrontation exercise. The "Blue Army" simulated a future battlefield environment to launch a suppressive electronic interference against the "Red Army", while the "Red Army" quickly started a concealed radar frequency to counter hostile electronic interference, and swiftly transmitted its texts, images and data to the pre-designated command post. In order to integrate the online exercises with real war, the brigade took its troops to unfamiliar areas to conduct exercise with aviation confrontation exercise as its tactical background so as to explore, check and perfect its fighting methods. As a result its capability to gather, analyze and process intelligence has been greatly boosted.
