Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)

Spokesperson on the passage of the resolution on "Preservation of and compliance with ABM Treaty"

Q: What's your comment on the passage of the resolution on" Preservation of and compliance with ABM Treaty" by the UN Committee on International Disarmament and Security (the First Committee) of the General Assembly?
A: On 1 November, the UN Committee On International Disarmament and Security (the First Committee) of the 55th General Assembly adopted, with an overwhelming majority, the resolution of "Preservation of and Compliance with the Treaty on the Limitation of Anti-Ballistic Missile System" sponsored by China, Russia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, with 78 in favor and 3 against, which fully demonstrated the will and determination of the international community to maintain global strategic equilibrium and stability and disapproval of the development and deployment of NMD by the relevant country.
China, as one sponsoring country of the resolution, expresses its heart-felt gratitude to those countries voting for the resolution.
We hope that the relevant country would seriously listen to the just call of the international community, and make right judgment upon the trend of time, strictly preserve and comply with the ABM treaty and give up the missile defense plan that is to undermine global strategic balance at an earlier date.
