Statement by Commerce Secretary William M. Daley on Indictment of McDonnell Douglas and CATIC
Washington- Commerce Secretary William M. Daley today issued a statement in response to the Department of Justice's criminal indictment of McDonnell Douglas and the China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) for allegedly exporting machine tools to China in violation of export control laws.
"This indictment is the result of a long and complex investigation by the Commerce Department's Office of Export Enforcement and the U.S. Customs Service under the strong leadership of the Justice Department," Secretary Daley said. "This is a very important case that demonstrates our commitment to enforcing export controls that help protect our national security."
"I applaud the excellent interagency cooperation involved in the investigation," Secretary Daley added. "Commerce, Customs and Justice have worked side-by-side to pursue this investigation over several years proving that export control law enforcement is a strong, cooperative effort."
