On October 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov on the sidelines of the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
The ministers had a detailed discussion of current issues related to bilateral cooperation and interaction between the foreign ministries, including the reciprocal expansion of diplomatic missions and preparations for the annual joint meeting of the Foreign Ministry Boards of Russia and Belarus, scheduled for late November. They paid special attention to issues of diplomatic support for integration within the Union State, with a focus on creating a common humanitarian space and ensuring the equal rights of citizens of Russia and Belarus.
Taking concurrent positions, the ministers exchanged views on several international topics. They agreed that the two sides would continue supporting each other at multilateral platforms and maintain close foreign policy coordination, including with the aim of counteracting the collective West's sanctions and legal aggression.
The parties reaffirmed their resolve to step up efforts directed at promoting the Russian initiative to create a new security and cooperation architecture in Eurasia as well as the Belarusian idea, now a joint project, to draw up a Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century.
