Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement on 5th anniversary of 2020 presidential election in Belarus
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Republic of Poland
09.08.2025
On the anniversary of the presidential election held on 9 August 2020, Poland, guided by the principles of freedom and solidarity, reaffirms its support for all Belarusian citizens striving to restore the rule of law, democracy, and the respect for human rights in their homeland.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the authorities of the Republic of Belarus to return to complying with the commitments made by the country when it joined the UN and the OSCE and to release all prisoners of conscience, including Andrzej Poczobut. This gesture would help rebuild trust among the Central and Eastern Europe countries and restore stability in the entire region.
Belarus belongs to the European family of nations, and its path to lasting development and prosperity leads primarily through Europe.
