Plesetsk - Chronology
- On January 11, 1957, the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a Resolution on the creation of an intercontinental ballistic missile compound - the Angara facility in the Plesetsk District of the Arkhangelsk Region.
- On July 15, 1957, Guard Colonel M.G. Grigoriev signed order No. 1, in which he announced his assumption of the post of commander of military unit 13991 and the beginning of the formation of the Angara facility.
- September 1957. The first organizational group, 17 officers and 86 soldiers and sergeants, arrived at its permanent deployment site at Plesetskaya station.

- On February 22, 1968, the training ground was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for great services in the creation of new types of weapons and military equipment.

- March 14, 1972 - the first launch of the Temp-2S ICBM from pl. 157 (commander Colonel N.V. Mazyarkin).
- On April 4, 1972, the first launch of a foreign satellite was carried out by the domestic launch vehicle Molniya-M with launcher # 4 pl. 43. It was the French small satellite MAC-1.
- On July 10, 1972, the jubilee spacecraft "Kosmos-500" was launched by the carrier rocket "Kosmos-3M" with launcher # 2 pl. 132 (commander Lieutenant Colonel A.A. Avseevich).

- September 5, 1979 - the first launch of the Resource spacecraft by the Soyuz-U launch vehicle with launcher no. 1 pl. 41 (commander Colonel I.F. Klimov).
- November 7, 1979 - the grand opening of the "Eternal Flame" memorial.
- March 18, 1980 during the preparation of the Vostok-2M carrier rocket at launcher # 4 pl. 43 an explosion occurred during refueling with hydrogen peroxide. 48 people were killed. The rocket was installed on the launch pad on March 17, the autonomous and general tests preceding the launch were passed without comment. The explosion took place 2 hours 15 minutes before the start. As most of the witnesses showed, first a flash was noticed in the region of the third stage, then an explosion occurred and an extensive fire began, accompanied by another three or four explosions. To investigate the incident, a government commission was created, headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Leonid Smirnov. Based on the results of the work, nine versions of what happened were proposed, all of them called the leak of hydrogen peroxide at the time of filling the launch vehicle as the root cause. The combat crew, which was preparing the missile for launch, was found to be directly responsible for the explosion. On February 5, 1996, on the basis of the Act of the Interdepartmental Commission for Additional Investigation of the Causes of the Catastrophe, on March 18, 1980, the combat crew was rehabilitated. As established by the commission, the catastrophe was not the fault of the personnel of the combat crew of the cosmodrome.
- September 29, 1981 - the first launch of the Topol rocket as part of a mobile ground-based missile system from Sq. 167 (commander Colonel M.S.Fomchenkov).
- May 1982. The 1st and 2nd test directorates of the 53rd NIIP are transferred to operational subordination to the Main Directorate of Space Means of the USSR Ministry of Defense, which was withdrawn from the Strategic Missile Forces. - June 2007. Scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the launching of the cosmodrome.
- July 15, 2007 - the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
- On November 9, 2013, during the planned work on cleaning the container from under the rocket fuel, 2 officers of the technical base of the cosmodrome were killed, three servicemen were hospitalized with poisoning.
