Sorayya Earth Observation System

The Iranian Space Agency successfully launched the Sorayya satellite into orbit at an altitude of 750 kilometers, the Iranian government announced 20 January 2024. The Sorayya satellite was launched using a three-stage Qaem 100 rocket as part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' space program. "The Sorayya satellite, owned by the Iranian Space Agency, was successfully launched using a three-stage solid-fuel carrier rocket Qaem 100 of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and put into orbit at an altitude of 750 kilometers," the government announced. The mass of the research satellite "Sorya" is declared to be about 50 kg.

This satellite was launched in a ceremony attended by some Iranian national and military officials, including Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards, Hassan Salarieh, the head of the Space Organization, and Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force.

The news of the launch of this satellite comes at a time when tensions are increasing in the Middle East following the start of the Israel-Hamas war, and just a few days ago, two neighboring countries, Iran and Pakistan, launched airstrikes on each other's territory. Iran says that the "Sorya" satellite is a research satellite; However, it has not yet published information about the missions of this satellite.

The launch of this satellite was also carried out within the framework of a program that is criticized by Western countries and raises concerns about the development of Tehran's ballistic missile program.

Previously, the United States had emphasized that Iran's action in launching satellites is a violation of the UN Security Council resolution, and accordingly, it asked Tehran not to carry out any activities related to the project of developing ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

UN sanctions regarding Iran's ballistic missile program expired in October 2023. The intelligence community of the United States had announced in the assessment of global threats in 2023 that the development of Iran's space programs in the matter of launching satellites will allow this country to succeed in developing an intercontinental ballistic missile in a "shorter period of time"; Because the same technology is used in both of these projects.

After the launch of the Suraya satellite, the head of the Space Organization said that one of its features is the possibility of testing "satellite communications", which shows that the said satellite has important potentials for improving the scientific power of Iran.

Eastern Defense and Security Service- While the spy networks and various satellite surveillance systems of the western countries are busy monitoring Iran's missile and space programs, the Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force succeeded in the early hours of Saturday, January 30th, with the help of the "Sorya" satellite. launch the "Qaim 100" satellite into a 750 km orbit; Without any sign or news of this launch and the new space program of Iran reaching the hands of the enemies. In addition, this is the first time that Iranian satellites reach this orbit, and for this reason, with the recent launch, the space launch record of Iran was broken.

Eisa Zarepour, the Islamic Republic's Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, said in late November that Iran plans to launch five new satellites into space before the end of the Iranian calendar year [March 20, 2024].

According to IRNA , "Soraya Satellite" is an Iranian satellite from a series of research satellites built by the Iran Space Research Institute, which successfully made its trip to the 750 km orbit of the Earth this morning with "Qaim 100 Satellite", which is the result of the efforts of elites and scientists of IRGC Aerospace Force. left behind to set a new record in the field of positioning the satellite at a new height.

According to IRNA , "Reuters" news agency published this news and wrote: Iran has successfully launched its Suraya satellite into the earth's orbit, an action that is likely to increase the West's concerns about Tehran's nuclear program.

"Sputnik" news agency also announced by covering this news: Iran has successfully put the Suraya satellite into orbit. This is the first time that an Iran-made satellite has been successfully placed in an orbit above 500 km. This Russian media added: Iran's Space Organization announced that this satellite was launched by the Qaim 100 satellite carrier of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

"France 24" news website also reflected the news of the successful launch of Iran's indigenous satellite and wrote: This issue has intensified the West's concern about the improvement of Tehran's missiles.

"Associated Press" news agency also reported that Iran successfully launched a satellite into its highest orbit today (Saturday). This American news agency continued to write: This matter takes place only a few days after the air attack of Iran and Pakistan on each other's countries, and also this announcement is published while the tensions in the Middle East have expanded due to the continuation of Israel's war in the Gaza Strip. The Associated Press further states that this launch was a part of the IRGC's space program along with Iran's civilian space program.

"ABC News", "ABC News", "Washington Post" newspaper, "Anatolia" news agency of Turkey, " Le Figaro " newspaper and many other European and American media also reported the news of the launch of the domestic satellite Suraya, which was able to change Iran's record for launching a satellite to a height. slowly, they reflected.
