TacSat-6 is the latest iteration of the Operational Responsive Space (ORS) Office sponsored Tactical Satellite series of missions. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) will be responsible for the development and integration of the spacecraft bus for this mission.
Though not determined the very preliminary mission concepts for TacSat-6 appears to suggest it will consist of Automation of multiple payload missions as well as a T-Sat Military Transformational Communications Satellite possible as an operational prototype TacSat-4. It may also test advanced technical/concept of operations (CONOP) experimentation for operational systems acquisition (SMC). That would finalize the definition of the Request for Proposals for the operational system to follow acquisition (SMC) for the “Joint Warfighting Space”.
