Dalibar Valouschek

Purported photograph of Dalibar Valouschek (identified at the time as "Colonel Rudolph Herrmann"), released at the time of his public unmasking in Washington, DC by the US State Department and FBI. He figures prominently in a Kremlin attempt to stop Apollo 8 from launching by falsely claiming that the rocket was sabotaged. Dalibar Valouschek was the KGB's top rezident illegal spy in the United States from 1968 through 1977. In actuality US counterintelligence agents had captured him several years before in 1977, and for three years the top KGB rezident illegal had been working as a double agent for the FBI counterintelligence units.
