Zond 5 postal stationery
Air-mail envelope that was originally released on December 9, 1968 commemorating the space feat of Zond 5, the first spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon. The stamp and postmark, that this envelope displays however, are from four months later into 1969-both the stamp and the postmark were issued for the first time on Cosmonaut Day, celebrated on April 12. The postmark additionally celebrates the docking of Soyuz 4/5, which also was a mission in the USSR's manned lunar program.
