Series of stamped covers for Soyuz 6, 7 and 8
Set of three envelopes commemorating the Soyuz 6, 7, 8 troika mission that ended with the return of the last capsule on October 18, 1969. Of special note about these philatelic items is that three days later, on October 21, the series of three postal stationery items were issued, and one day following that, on October 22, a three-stamp issuance honoring the flights appeared. This stamp/postal stationery issuance reflects the notion that the stamps as well as postal stationery were "pre-set" prior to the launching of the spacecraft and their successful returns to Earth. Of further significance is that the spacecraft Soyuzes 7 and 8 were to have engaged in an on-orbit flight test of the "Podsadka" equipment, intended for the manned circumlunar program, but faulty rendezvous procedures prevented the test from taking place.
