Space Warfare Center (SWC) (U)

Overview (U):

(U) The Space Warfare Center (SWC) is the Air Force Space Command's (AFSPACECOM's) direct reporting unit responsible for improving military operations through the exploitation of space power.

Description (U):

(U) The SWC plays a major role in fully integrating space systems into the operational Air Force by enhancing AFSPACECOM's four core mission areas: space force support, space force enhancement, space force application, and space control. The SWC accomplishes this mission by recommending, designing, demonstrating, and testing improved applications of space power for the warfighter.

(U) The SWC's force enhancement mission looks at ways to use space systems to support warfighters in the areas of navigation, weather, intelligence, communications, and theater ballistic missile warning and how these apply to theater operations. Space systems enable and support military operations, from training and deployment to guiding weapons to targets. The SWC demonstrates the potential of space systems in warfighting scenarios by working with commanders to integrate Air Force space systems into war plans and exercises. It also develops an academic curriculum to educate service members about the capabilities of space systems and their potential military applications.

(U) The SWC executes the following missions:

(U) serves as command-lead for space training and education;
(U) serves as Executive Agent for the Air Force Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) programs;
(U) provides intelligence assessments and threat intelligence support to operational units, including exercises, contingencies, and wartime operations;
(U) serves as Command Executive Agent for modeling, simulation, and analysis to support the warfighter;
(U) develops operational tools for the Air Force Space Support Teams for use in exercises and contingencies;
(U) engages in Information Warfare and command and control protection efforts; and
(U) identifies, develops, and evaluates new tactics, techniques, and procedures to meet emerging threats.
