Embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) Inertial (EGI) Navigation System (U)
Overview (U):
(U) The Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation System (EGI) is a navigation system which combines a GPS receiver card with an Inertial Navigation System (INS) in an integrated single until of modest size and weight (7 x 11 x 11 inches and weighs 20 lbs). EGIs from Litton Avionics and Honeywell Inc have now completed QT&E. They are being integrated in both rotary and fixed wing aircraft as an upgrade to existing systems or a replacement for older and less capable systems.
