Description (U):
(U) The AN/WSC-6(V)X will provide unprotected, joint interoperable high capacity voice, data, and video for combatants and Flag-Capable ships, and reliable Joint/NATO-interoperable Low Probability of Intercept (LPI), secure information exchange at medium-to-high data rates for fleet flag ships, Surface Towed Array Surveillance System Ships (SURTASS), CVs/CVNs, LHAs/LHDs, flag-configured and new construction LPDs, Tomahawk- or Aegis-capable CGs/DDGs/DDs, Combat Logistics Force (CLF) ships, and Mine Countermeasures Support (MCS) Ships. The AN/WSC-6(V) 2 & 4 terminals will be modified to add dual RF and dual IF channel capability and support the Tactical Advanced Computer-4 (TAC-4) X-Band operation. The procurements and installations are being conducted in three concurrent steps. Step 1 provides backfit kits and additional seven foot antennas. Step 2 provides new AN/WSC-6(V)X full up terminals. Step three provides outfitting for the remainder of the planned total 221 SHF terminals. 34 Terminals are to be modified including all SHF SATCOM configured flag capable surface ships, training sites and labs. Procurement of 148 AN/WSC-6(V)X terminals expands SHF SATCOM capability from the previous 68 installs to non-flag capable surface ships and flag-configured LPDs.
