Active On-Board Protection (U)
Overview (U):
(U) The long-term objective of this Air Force Research Lab effort is the identification, development and demonstration of active survivability enhancement options that will provide, in conjunction with on-board threat warning and attack reporting capabilities (TW/AR), the capability for spacecraft to avoid hostile threat environments.

Description (U):
(U) Balanced survivability, particularly for long-term, advanced threats to spacecraft will necessitate the inclusion of active survivability enhancement options to reduce or eliminate the intensity of threat environments by threat avoidance. Extensive efforts in this area were funded and carried out under BMDO (formerly SDI) auspices. The extent of this effort until further needs/requirements are established through mission/system vulnerability analyses, will be the evaluation, synopsis and archiving of the data/information obtained from the terminated BMDO effort.
