50th Civil Engineer Squadron - Engineering Flight

The 50th Civil Engineering Squadron, Engineering Flight, is tasked:

  • At the Base Development level, with:
    • Contributing to the readiness and efficient development of Schriever AFB by providing near-term and long-term planning for on-base development, as well as interfacing with other governmental agencies; and
    • Develops recommendations for proper siting of new facilities.

  • At the Project Planning and Programming level, with:
    • Defining project requirements, ensuring that work is properly identified and accomplished with the right type of funding;
    • Selecting proper work classification and a program avenue to accomplish the work; and
    • Creating a project record and take actions to obtain project approval. These actions involve coordination with base organizations, prioritization and validation by the Facilities Board, and the development of project approval documentation. With proper programming, projects are approved for funding and awarded for execution for our customers.

  • At the Contracts level, with:
    • Providing professional engineering services and project management for facility maintenance, repair, and construction projects;
    • Projecting management responsibility runs from initial design through completion of construction. Disciplines covered include architecture, civil/structural engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Manages all A&E contracts. Includes traffic engineering, seismic engineering, construction engineering, and facilities excellence;
    • During construction, providing direct surveillance and inspection of Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Simplified Acquisition Base Engineering Requirements (SABER), and other Military Construction (MILCON) projects;
    • Directing all actions of base Indefinite Delivery and Indefinite Quantities (IDIQs);
    • Supporting maintenance engineering for roof, pavements, corrosion control and infrastructure repair and replacement; and
    • Managing, administering, overseeing, and redirecting execution of $12M per year for eight service contracts, including Grounds Maintenance, Refuse and Recycling, Custodial, Elevator Maintenance, Grease Trap Cleaning, Door Maintenance, Protective Coating, Carpet and Furniture Reuse.

  • At the Drafting/Surveying level, with:
    • Performing engineering drawings and maintaining a library of more than 2,000 as-built record drawings;
    • Maintaining Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) System, including software and hardware; and
    • Performing surveying for horizontal and vertical control.

  • At the Site Support level, with:
    • Providing all civil engineering technical support for 50 SW Geographically Separated Units; and
    • Providing expertise on source selection of Schriever AFB contracts, expertise on utility outage reports, briefings for site operational personnel at Schriever AFB, and environmental support during exercises.
