50th Support Group [50th SPTG]
The 50th Support Group is a component of the 50th Space Wing, Schriever Air Force Base, CO. The group was activated January 30, 1992.
The mission of the 50th SPTG is to provide security, civil engineering, fire protection, medical response, personnel and services support to Schriever AFB personnel. It manages $625 million in support of 20 base agencies, 15 geographically separated units, over 4,800 people worldwide and the $11 billion Air Force Satellite Control Network.
The group plans and develops future base growth with city, county, state and federal officials.
The group is comprised of four squadrons: 50th Civil Engineer Squadron, 50th Security Forces Squadron, the 50th Mission Support Squadron and 50th Contracting Squadron.
The 50th Support Group was formerly the 1002nd Space Support Group which was activated October 1, 1989.
Over 550 active duty Air Force members and Department of Defense civilians are assigned to the 50th Support Group.
