2nd Space Launch Squadron - Generation Flight
The mission of the Generation Flight, 2nd Space Launch Squadron, is to oversee Titan II, Titan IV, and Atlas IIAS launch vehicle and satellite processing to ensure sound maintenance practices, safety, security, and environmental requirements are adhered to for mission assurance.
The unit's maintenance controllers are Air Force maintenance experts for booster/spacecraft processing. They are tasked with:
- Overseeing contractor performed maintenance, anomaly resolution, and troubleshooting;
- Documenting and reporting observation results;
- Inspecting the booster prior to shipment and upon arrival;
- Monitoring the status of assigned booster and spacecraft hardware and providing the current status to all AF agencies;
- Reviewing the booster and spacecraft processing procedures, airborne design modifications, and airborne test equipment configuration; and
- Satellite Engineering:
- On-console for major tests and launch;
- Data/procedure reviews;
- Anomaly resolution;
- Project Management.
