21st Civil Engineer Squadron [21st CES]
The 21st Civil Engineer Squadron manages and controls resources involving about $375 million in real property and 1,286 acres of land at Peterson Air Force Base.
The unit's primary mission is to prepare military personnel for worldwide mobility contingencies. In peacetime, it maintains, repairs and constructs essential facilities and utility infrastructure systems to include electrical power systems, water and natural gas distribution systems and base roads and pavements. Fire protection and prevention, environmental and family housing programs are also managed by the unit.
The unit is responsible for providing environmental, engineering, operations fire protection, disaster response and resource management for more than 173 facilities, 491 homes at Peterson.
The 21st CES also provides comprehensive technical engineering and environmental support including contract management and mobile quality assurance to 26 geographically separated units supporting wing missions worldwide.
The squadron also runs the base self-help center supporting "do-it-yourself" work for the office or military family housing.
It manages an annual construction, maintenance, and repair budget of $35 million.
