• Shanghai police detain zero-COVID critic who called on local leader to resign Radio Free Asia 02 Sep 2022 -- Shanghai police have detained a prominent rights activist who called on a local official to resign over the citywide COVID-19 lockdown in April.
• Chinese mainland reports 318 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases People's Daily 02 Sep 2022 -- The Chinese mainland Thursday reported 318 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 128 were in Sichuan, the National Health Commission said Friday.

India

• India's Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 212.75 Cr India PIB 02 Sep 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 212.75 Cr (2,12,75,23,421) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
• COVID - 19 Vaccination Update - Day 595 India PIB 02 Sep 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 212.97 Crore (2,12,97,60,943) today. More than 21 lakh (21,24,760) Vaccine Doses have been administered till 7 pm today. The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late tonight.
• Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs India PIB 02 Sep 2022 -- The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

• Taiwan approaches 10,000 COVID-19 deaths CNA 02 Sep 2022 -- Taiwan reported more than 30,000 new cases of COVID-19 for a fourth consecutive day Friday, and the 36 deaths from the disease brought the total since the pandemic began to 9,986, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
• Taiwan grants EUA for 2nd-generation Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (update) CNA 02 Sep 2022 -- Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted emergency use authorization (EUA) for Moderna's second-generation COVID-19 vaccines for adults aged 18 years old and above, after a meeting of experts Friday.
