• Chinese mainland reports 259 new local confirmed COVID cases People's Daily 28 Aug 2022 -- The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 259 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 70 were in Hainan Province, the National Health Commission said Sunday.
• Shijiazhuang close to Beijing suspends railway, bus operations amid new COVID-19 spike Global Times 28 Aug 2022 -- Shijiazhuang, the capital city of North China's Hebei Province neighboring Beijing, suspended the operation of trains and buses from 3 pm on Sunday amid the latest COVID-19 spike that started Thursday.

India

• India's Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 211.66 Cr India PIB 28 Aug 2022 -- India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 211.66 Cr (2,11,66,35,408) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,82,08,570 sessions.
• Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs India PIB 28 Aug 2022 -- The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

• Taiwan reports 26,765 new COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths CNA 28 Aug 2022 -- Taiwan on Sunday reported 26,765 new cases of COVID-19 and 31 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

North Korea

• Anti-epidemic Work Intensified KCNA 28 Aug 2022 -- Phyonggang County of Kangwon Province of the DPRK is continuing to intensify the anti-epidemic work, true to the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea on firmly maintaining the anti-epidemic barrier until the global health crisis is over.
