• Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs India PIB 15 Aug 2022 -- The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

• COVID-19 kills 71 more Iranians over past 24 hours IRNA 15 Aug 2022 -- The number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran increased to 143,015 with 71 more Iranians killed by the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, Iran's Health Ministry announced on Monday.

• Taiwan reports 15,792 new COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths CNA 15 Aug 2022 -- Taiwan on Monday reported 15,792 cases of COVID-19, all but 196 of which were domestic infections, and 22 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
• Taiwan sees first local BA.4 COVID case; BA.5 cases expected to rise CNA 15 Aug 2022 -- Taiwan has reported its first locally transmitted case of the Omicron BA.4 subvariant of COVID-19, but it expects the BA.5 subvariant to drive a new wave of cases in the coming weeks, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

North Korea

• North Korea lifts COVID restrictions after 'maximum emergency' ends Radio Free Asia 15 Aug 2022 -- North Korea lifted COVID-19 restrictions at bathhouses and restaurants nationwide after declaring victory over the virus and ending its "maximum emergency" order that had been in place since May.
• KPA Army Medics Return to Their Units KCNA 15 Aug 2022 -- The medics of the Korean People's Army (KPA), who were urgently dispatched to the emergency anti-epidemic front of the capital on the special order of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, returned to their units on Sunday.
