Venezuela Air Force - Order of Battle

Just as the Army has experienced a major re-shuffling of the chain of command, to enhance loyalty and discourage the formation of cliques, in recent years the Air Force has seen signiciant shits in Order of Battle, with the number of flying squadrons growing by about 50%, from 11 squadrons to 17 squadrons. The older squadrons are depicted with shoulder patches, while the newer squadrons have distinctive unit insignia crests.

	Grupo Aéreo 4 GRUPO AÉREO PRESIDENCIA A-319CJ, B-737, Falcon-50, Mi-172.	The Presidential Air Group No. 4 was created on October 10, 1980, by resolution of the Ministry of Defense, depending on the General Command of the Venezuelan Air Force, initially having its facilities in command of the base. Later, in the month of June 1981, he moved to his current headquarters.
	Grupo Aéreo 5 GRUPO AÉREO DE TRANSPORTE BE200/350, Citation III/X, Falcon-20/900 y C-26B.	The Air Transport Group No. 5, (G-5) is one of the operational units of the Bolivarian Military Aviation. Its mission is to carry out air transport operations and reconnaissance, in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the mission of the Venezuelan Military Aviation, as well as in support of public and private institutions when ordered by the upper echelon, and as the most outstanding function, is to program and execute aeroambulancia missions, air transport, visual, photographic and electronic recognition.
	Grupo Aéreo 6 GRUPO AÉREO DE TRANSPORTE C-130, Short 330, B-707.	There are innumerable missions carried out by the Air Transport Group No. 6, since this unit was born on July 27, 1961. Its motto is: "All time, all place . "
	Grupo Aéreo 7 GRUPO AÉREO DE ENTRENAMIENTO DE VUELO INSTRUMENTAL	Air Group 7 does not have aircraft (unit for physiological training). It is a Group that is in charge of teaching and training the simulated instrument flight to the pilots' personnel, their motto "Training for Adversity"
	Grupo Aéreo 8 GRUPO AÉREO DE INTELIGENCIA, VIGILANCIA Y RECONOCIMIENTO	The Air Group No. 8 is always in constant evolution, in order to have qualified personnel and equipment in optimum condition to detect invisible threats always ready to the security and defense of the nation.
	Grupo Aéreo 9 GRUPO AÉREO DE TRANSPORTE Cessna 206, Cessna 208.	Its slogan dictates "Our North is the South" , which is why since the creation of the Transportation Air Group No. 9, has been dedicated to meet the needs of indigenous peoples who live in an extensive region that represents almost 60% of the country's land surface, specifically in the states of Amazonas, Bolívar, Delta Amacuro and south of Apure.
	Grupo Aéreo 10 GRUPO AÉREO DE OPERACIONES ESPECIALES Super Puma , Cougar.	The Special Operations Air Group No. 10 conducts support air operations and special operations, in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the mission of the aviation component and the other components of the National Armed Forces, as well as in support of public and private institutions when they are ordered by the upper echelon.
	Grupo Aéreo 11 GRUPO AÉREO DE CAZA Su-30MK2.	The No. 11 Hunting Air Group is made up of men and women who operate the spearhead of the Venezuelan Military Aviation. Its task is to maintain and preserve the sovereignty of Venezuelan airspace. Its motto is "beat or die".
	Grupo Aéreo 12 GRUPO AÉREO DE CAZA VF-5, CF-5, NF-5B, K-8W Karakorum.	On July 27, 1961, the Venezuelan Air Force began its reorganization with the creation of the No. 12 Hunting Air Group. It was composed of the three hunting squads existing for the time.
	Grupo Aéreo 13 GRUPO AÉREO DE CAZA Su-30MK2.	The "Simón Bolívar" Hunting Air Group No. 13, is responsible for carrying out combat missions that assign superiority in conflict situations in support of the mission's fulfillment and for imparting the qualification courses in the system to the newly assigned pilots. to unity, it also has as its main mission to carry out offensive and defensive air-to-air combat operations. It fulfills missions of flight specialized in air-surface operations and performs the maintenance tasks of vital importance that allow to maintain this weapon system in the air.
	Grupo Aéreo 14 GRUPO DE ENTRENAMIENTO AÉREO SF-260, AT-27 Tucano, Cessna 182.	The Air Training Group No. 14, in its organizational structure is made up of Flight Squads and Maintenance Squadron, which perform specific functions in various specialties, as well as advise the commando in the unit's logistical and operational needs, our mission The main objective is to train military personnel as a military aviator pilot and to train the personnel of pilot instructors to carry out air operations in support of the employment plans of the Bolivarian Military Aviation.
	Grupo Aéreo 15 GRUPO AÉREO DE OPERACIONES ESPECIALES OV-10 Bronco, AT-27 Tucano.	At the beginning of the seventies, studies were carried out to cover the need for an appropriate aircraft for operations, taking into consideration the experience that was known with this aircraft, which had been used as an advanced air traffic controller directing attack aircraft to the target marking the targets and fulfilling direct air support missions.
	Grupo Aéreo 16 GRUPO AÉREO DE CAZA F-16A/B Block 15OCU.	Unit that is in constant participation in the development plans of the nation, continuously supporting the different missions planned by the National Executive. Its motto is: "Protectors and Avengers"
	Grupo Aéreo 17 GRUPO AÉREO DE OPERACIONES ESPECIALES	Air Group Special Operations No. 17 actively complies with supporting indigenous communities, with plans established by the General Command of Aviation also contributes to the achievement of strategic plans formulated by the strategic region of Integral Defense Guayana, and also supports the activities of the national and regional executive. The bird icon of this combat unit is the harpy eagle.
	Grupo Aéreo 18 GRUPO DE ENTRENAMIENTO AÉREO	This training group was created by resolution Official Gazette no. 40,408 dated 9 May 2014. It aims, train future pilots fixed wing, whether hunting, transport or unmanned military aviation aircraft and of the rest of the components of the National Armed Forces.
	Grupo Aéreo 19 GRUPO DE ENTRENAMIENTO AÉREO	This training group is born of the need to have a unit of its own for the training of helicopter pilots of the Military Aviation, that is why it was born by resolution of Official Gazette No. 40,408 of May 19, 2014, thus forming the Center for Aerial Training, together with Air Groups N ° 7,14 and 18. In this way, the training of future helicopter pilots is strengthened with this unit, where pilots of the Army, Navy and National Guard components are also trained.
	Grupo Aéreo 20 GRUPO DE FUERZAS ESPECIALES	This group is born with the need to perform Special Air-Ground Operations, such as: search and rescue in combat (CSAR), direct action, designation of targets on the ground, terminal guidance in close air support, among others, in the fulfillment of the missions emanated of the General Command of the Bolivarian Military Aviation and the highest planning body of the operations of joint, combined and specific operations such as the Strategic Operational Command. This distinguished Elite Unit was created in 2016 and is now an integral part of the Special Action Force (FAES).
