1st Fighter Group

The 1st Fighter Group is located at Tainan Air Base and is subordinate to the 443rd Tactical Fighter Wing. The 1st FG is comprised of three fighter squadrons, the 1st, 3rd and 9th squadrons.

Reports from late 2002 indicate that the 1st Fighter Group will be the first unit to convert to a new organizational structure. Details on the changes are minimal but it is believed that the squadrons are to be reorganized into independent combat teams.

Military Technology reported in January 2003 that the 1st Fighter Group was to be inactivated during 2003.
