UTVA 75 / M-53
V-53 aircraft are used for selective and basic training of Air Force cadets in 252th combined-arms aviation escadrille based in Batajnica airbase and for maintaining the flight performance of pilots from units and within the command HQ. The aircraft type V-53 was devloped and constructed in UTVA Pancevo-based plane factory for the purpose of training pilots in visible conditions, for courier flights, glider tug flights and liaison flights for command purposes, which have all been defined by the armed forces. In Former Yugoslavia, the defence budget funded the requirements of civil aero clubs where the reserve corps pilots were trained for the war development of the Territorial Army escadrilles. This is why V-53 aircraft could be used as light combat planes armed with two guided missile 57 mm launchers or two containers with machine guns type 7.62 mm caliber MAC-AA-52U.
The first Utva-75 aircraft took off on 19 May 1976, and the second prototype ten months later. A total of 136 Utva 75 V-53 aircraft were made in the production period 1976-1985.
