ZALA421-16E5

ZALA421-16E5 complex is designed for security operations, elimination and prevention of emergency situations; patrol stretches of the state border, monitoring areas, prevention of environmental disasters. It allows you to receive and transmit information in real time with simultaneous broadcast television image, determine the coordinates of objects to collect, store and process information.

For the first time in the Russian market to realize the full duplication of the main systems responsible for the safety of the flight. The system is designed for aerial surveillance under adverse ambient conditions at any time at a distance of 150 km with video in real time. ZALA 421-16E5G, equipped with a hybrid power plant with an electric motor and an internal combustion engine (ICE), developed by the Russian company ZALA Aero (part of the Kalashnikov Group of Companies of the Rostec State Corporation).

The ZALA Aero company presented the ZALA 421-16E5G unmanned aerial system at the MAKS-2021 International Aerospace Salon, the press service of the concern reported. "The aircraft is designed for conducting air monitoring on long routes, which makes it indispensable for use in the oil and gas sector. The first samples are already being operated at the facilities of the fuel and energy complex (fuel and energy complex)," the press service said in a statement.

It notes that the drone can stay in the air for more than 12 hours, cover distances of more than 1200 kilometers and conduct aviation monitoring at a distance of more than 100 kilometers. "The ZALA 421-16E5G is adapted to work in full radio silence mode in areas with a complex radio situation at a distance of up to 500 kilometers from the launch point. The "video navigation" function allows you not to lose sight of the drone even in the absence of signals from satellite navigation systems," the press service reported.

ZALA 421 16E5G is a unique unmanned complex that has no analogs in the world due to its hybrid power plant, which provides the charge of a buffer battery for an hour, and allows to fly long distances. During production test flies, the flight duration of the ZALA 421-16E5G was 16 hours. Nikita Khamitov, head of special projects at ZALA Aero, during the presentation of the new UAV, said “We are the first in the world in this class of drones to combine an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The company has made a sequential hybrid – during the flight, the internal combustion engine is not the main pushing engine, but feeds the generator and the buffer battery. including the electric motor.“

According to him, the use of a hybrid power plant significantly increases the duration of the drone’s flight compared to analogues. “Thanks to this scheme, we got a flight time of more than 16 hours, and also provided an opportunity to work on an object of interest in a completely silent mode,” Khamitov said.

According to him, the serial production of the UAV has already begun. “There is already a customer. Serial production has already started,” Khamitov said, adding that the production facilities of ZALA Aero allow producing a total of up to 300 different drones per year.

The ZALA 421-16E5G is positioned as a reconnaissance vehicle. “The payload allows the use of target designation systems, communication relaying, monitoring of cellular networks 2G, 3G, 4G. It can conduct electronic reconnaissance in the area and determine cell phones and their location, as well as relay communications for several tens of kilometers,” added Khamitov.

When no signal via SNA excess accurate inertial measurement unit UAV continue the job and generate automatic landing in that area. More functional replacement UAV class requiring airfield basing. It starts from the unequipped sites, landing at any given point area, which does not require special training. Target load models are compatible with the drone of aircraft and helicopter types ZALA 421-16E, ZALA 421-16EM and ZALA 421-22.

The unmanned system is equipped with a combined payload with two thermal imagers, a 60x video camera. Optionally, ZALA 421-16E5G is capable of carrying a payload weighing up to 10 kg. The video stream is broadcast in HD format (1280 * 720), which allows the ground station operator to view the streaming image in great detail. In addition to optoelectronic loads, the device is equipped with electronic reconnaissance equipment, communication repeaters.

Since 2004 ZALA AERO GROUP is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems, unique payloads and mobile systems. Starting from January 2015 ZALA AERO is part of Concern Kalashnikov. The main products are reconnaissance unmanned systems and digital solutions. Currently, more than 2000 of ZALA UAS operate within Russia. Areas of application are the protection of state borders, reconnaissance and rescue operations, monitoring of high-risk facilities, and emergencies.
