Sukhoi S-84 multi-purpose aircraft

In addition to supersonic aircraft, in the Design Bureau named after P.O.Sukhoi developed subsonic aircraft. One design was a multi-purpose S-84 aircraft for 3 passengers with a 450 hp turboprop engine. and a maximum speed of 500 km/h. Serial production of the S-84 was planned to begin in 1997, but nothing came of this plan.

A light multipurpose five-seat aircraft S-84 is being developed at Sukhoi Design Bureau ANKP JSC for air tourism and use as an air taxi for 4 passengers, as well as a training, patrol or ambulance aircraft with a payload of 500 kg. At the request of the customer, S-84 could easily be converted into a research or any other aircraft.

The S-84 would be distinguished by a low noise level, it would be equipped with an active security system with a high-speed parachute system for saving the aircraft and modern avionics, allowing it to operate in a "blind flight". For take-off and landing of the S-84, any area with grass or dirt could be used.

A comfortable lounge would be equipped with a bar, audio-video system, television camera and satellite communications. Composite materials are widely used in the high-resource technological design of the aircraft. Glider S-84 would have an increased margin of safety.

The aircraft would be powered by a 350 hp HP Teledyne Continental Motors TSIOL-550B six-cylinder piston engine. The aircraft landing gear is tricycle, retractable, with linkage suspension, oil-pneumatic shock absorbers, a front-wheel turning mechanism and anti-union automation would ensure the operation of the aircraft from unpaved airfields with a ground strength of 5 kg / sq. cm.

The S-84 equipment would include an electromechanical flap control system, an electro-induction de-icing system, an oxygen system, an air conditioning system, service and communication equipment, and Bendix King Silwer Crown navigation equipment.
