A cutting-edge Russian drone equipped with unique dual-band radar was demonstrated by specialists of the Russian Air Force during the Army-2015 forum, the press office of the Defense Ministry reported. "The new Russian unmanned aerial vehicle Merlin-21b is equipped with a proprietary compact radio-radar station and was demonstrated at the Army-2015 forum," the ministry said.

The drone is capable of conducting aerial surveillance in any weather conditions and in any time of the day and transmitting data in real time. "The decimeter band of the radar allows detection of objects hidden from visual view and camouflaged with leaves. While the centimeter band allows capturing of hi-resolution images," a representative of the Defense Ministry said. Merlin-21b is capable of conducting flights at an altitude of up to three kilometers and has a flight range of up to 600 kilometers.

The unmanned aerial vehicle of the Merlin-21B model was first presented to the general public as part of the Army-2015 exhibition event, and, according to some existing information, at the moment the Russian Armed Forces are armed with at least two dozen such drones.

A key feature of the Russian multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle model Merlin-21B is the presence of special radar equipment that allows you to find even well-camouflaged objects, moreover, the operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle can be carried out almost around the clock, regardless of meteorological conditions.

According to available information, the Merlin-21B unmanned aerial vehicle is equipped with electro-optical and infrared cameras, which makes it possible to distinguish objects on the ground even in conditions of insufficient or unfavorable visibility. The power unit of the Russian air military vehicle Merlin-21B is represented by one piston gasoline engine, which is capable of accelerating the device to a maximum flight speed of 120 km / h.
