La-200 All-Weather loitering interceptor (1949)

The aircraft "200" interceptor with radar (radar) "Thorium-A" in the centimeter range and twin engines VC-1. Designed to intercept enemy aircraft day and night in all weather conditions at high and medium altitudes. Constructors placed in the lower forward fuselage three guns H-37 (two on the right and one left).

Front-engine VC-1 installed at an angle of 10° to the axis of the fuselage, and the radar "Thorium-A" in the central body of the air intake. The second engine VC-1 is located in the tail, and stood along the axis of the aircraft. The crew of the aircraft, the pilot and the operator sitting in the cockpit with armored side by side in a combat situation that created a sense of "elbow" comrade, they had a common dashboard.

September 16, 1949 pilots SF Mashkovskii and AF Kosarev plane lifted into the air. In 1950, the plane passed state tests, after which it was converted forward fuselage and installed a new radar "Kite". In 1951, the aircraft re-passed state tests and was recommended for serial construction. But the series is not produced, as at this time there are new requirements for increased range.

La-200B All-Weather loitering interceptor (1952)

In August 1951, it has been put forward new requirements for the creation of loitering interceptor. In November 1951 the OKB-301 the beginning of the modernization of the machine "200" under the new requirements. It was necessary to install a new radar station (radar) "Falcon" and achieve a greater range (up to 3500 km).

Airplane "200B" with two engine VK-1A was designed to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft in all weather conditions, day and night. It was equipped with radar, radio navigation and high-rise. Armament consisted of three 37-mm guns.

Factory testing of the airplane took place from July 3 to September 10, 1952. Tests were conducted with mock radar "Falcon". Then the tests were interrupted by the arrival of the current station "Falcon". Fly: JI Wernicke VN Komarov, KB Makarov, and AF Kosarev.

By order of the Minister of Aviation Industry aircraft "200B" in 1953 it has been converted for the flight test radar "Falcon". Since January 1953, in its many and successfully flew ML Gallay, bringing up to standard radar "Falcon", performing 109 operations. The aircraft remained in a single copy.
