ALMAZ Shipbuilding Company

Almaz Shipyard is a modern enterprise of many years standing traditions in manufacturing the latest models of military technology. The main aim of Almaz Shipbuilding company is to manufacture high quality products which combine modern technical decisions and to meet requirements and desires of customers as well as to observe delivery date.

Shipbuilding Company ALMAZ is located in the heart of Saint-Petersburg on Petrovsky island in direct vicinity of the Gulf of Finland. The company owns 165000 sq. m. of land, 50000 sq. m. of which are occupied with well-equipped workshops.

Estimated work force is over 1000 men as of 2015. Company’s modern slip docks allow carrying out of the full cycle of shipbuilding in workshops up until ship launching. Simultaneously with construction, technological infrastructure of the Company allows carrying out of all types of ship repair and refitting.

The process of launching and lifting of ships is performed with a help of two floating drydocks with burden cargo tonnage of 3000 and 2500 tons. Drydocks are used for lifting and slipping of ships on horizontal slipways, which contain up to ten prefabrication areas.

Due to modern equipment and professionalism of the Company’s specialists it is possible to build ships for Russia and export with approval of worldwide qualification societies. Objective of the company is to create products of high class, which combine complex technical solutions, accounting for the requirements of customers as well as delivery deadline compliance. Currently, Company’s quality management system is certified in accordance with ISO 9001-2008 (GOST ISO 001-2011, GOST ?? 0015-002-2012) by classification society "BQVI" and classification society “Petrosert” ("Oboronsertifiki" system) as per compliance with the requirements of GOST ISO 9001-2011, standards PDLS ?? including GOST ?? 0015-002-2012. In 2007 a Certificate that attests, that OJSC “Shipbuilding Company ALMAZ” is a member of Association of industrial companies of Saint-Petersburg was received.

Close cooperation with leading design bureau allowed the shipyard to realize the newest scientific developments. The enterprise accumulated valuable expirience in building ships and vessels of different types and purpose.

Since foundation naval architects of Almaz company have build and customers have accepted more than 1000 boats and ships. For many years Almaz has been specializing in manufacturing of type models of modern maritime equipment working through the latest advances in the sphere of naval shipbuilding and transferring orders to serial production.

The first in the world missile boats and small missile ships were built at Almaz Shipbuilding Company. The shipyard became the first manufacturer of the unique missile ship equipped with automatic hydrofoil control system. Almaz designed and built the first motor yachts for the Soviet Government.

Shipbuilders of Almaz achieved great progress in civil shipbuilding, coped with series of environmental catamarans of "Ecopatrol" type. Successful development of civil shipbuilding is serial production of work vessels: pilot boats, multipurpose air cushion crafts and service crew boats.

Ships built by the shipyard are in service in the Navy and Federal Frontier Guard Service of Russia and in the Navies of more than twenty foreign states. In 1992 Almaz Shipbuilding association was reorganized into Almaz Shipbuilding Company open joint-stock company.

ALMAZ Shipbuilding Company is a world leader of the building of air-cushion amphibian ships. The enterprise delivered to the Navy several tens of landing ships of: 1205 "Scat", 1206 "Kalmar", 1232-1 "Jeiran".

Nowadays the serial building of air-cushion landing ships of 12322 project "Zubr" is being carried out at ALMAZ. This ship is the largest air-cushion landing ship in the world.

Maximum speed of "Zubr" is more than 60 knots (110 km/h). The ship is capable to carry up to 500 people of landing troops, or three tanks, or ten infantry combat vehicles and to carry out their disembarkation to unprepared coast. To solve close-range anti-aircraft defense tasks and to destroy sea and shore targets two 30-mm automatic artillery gun mounts ??-630? are installed on the ship. To neutralize enemy`s on-shore base stations two 140-mm ship`s launchers MC-227 are installed on the ship.Two launchers of a missile complex of "Igla-1M" type may be installed aboard "Zubr". The ship may be used as a minelayer for a concealed mine fields laying.

The delivery of two ships of this project to the Navy of Greece in 2000-2001 was significantly successful for the company in the world market of armament.

An air-cushion craft of 15063 "Irbis" project refers to civil-purpose craft and allow to carry passengers and freight in marshy ground, shallow water, during freeze-up and ice drift. "Irbis" is a universal vehicle when lack of roads. Specially equipped waterfront structures are not required for this craft. Economical diesels are used as main engines on the ACS "Irbis". Flexible skirt is performed of high-strength synthetic materials. "Irbis" is an all-whether economical, safe vehicle.

Successfully continued in the sphere of creation of civil air-cushion craft became the building of a boat of 14661 "Rys" project for the pilot service of Saint-Petersburg. "Rys" air-cushion boat is an all-the-year-round use vehicle. "Rys" modifications may be employed as patrol, pilot, rescue, passenger and tourist craft. "Rys" gives the possibility of moving in swamps, shallow water canals of rivers deltas, in snow, overpasses low water, spits, small islands, reefs. The boat proved to be perfect during the operation in winter.
