Project 65 Cruiser
Project 65 reminded some of the Mogami, having been first laid down as a Treaty light cruiser and then upgraded to a heavy cruiser. The Project 65 was proposed for the 1946-1955 ship building bienium in two guises, either as a light cruiser with nine 152mm (6") guns or with nine heavier 180mm (7.1") guns. However, Stalin cancelled the project in 1951 favoring building more Project 68(bis) Sverdlov-class light cruisers and continuing the development of the Project 82 Stalingrad-class battlecruisers.
