pr.09851 "Kalitka-SMP" "Khabarovsk"

The project 09851 Khabarovsk and Project 09852 were being followed and talked of as probable launch platforms for the new Status-6 (KANYON) strategic nuclear torpedo. The main launching platform of KANYON [if any] may be be the new Project 09851 'Khabarovsk' (pr.09851 Kalitka SMP) submarine. The design of this boat is similar to but somewhat smaller than the Project 955 'BOREI' SSBN with was also designed by the famous Rubin design bureau.

The available fragmentary information about the project 09851 says that it is: a large nuclear submarine, a "strategic boat" (the official reference is a reference ). The Internet also refers to the allegedly existing silhouette of Khabarovsk on a small series of souvenir pens officially released to its bookmark ( link ). Add to this the information that the developer of the submarine is supposedly the SPBMM "Malakhit" and the laying of the main submarine was held on July 27, 2014 in shop # 50 of the "Sevmash" (Severodvinsk).

Contract # 120-14 of 03.06.2014 was concluded between OAO "PO" Sevmash "and JSC" CDB "MT" Rubin "to perform part of the ROC "gate-SMP" for the construction of submarines pr.09851 (source). Accordingly, the developer of the PLA is CDB ME "Rubin". Bookmark the head of PLA held July 27, 2014 in the workshop #50 by "Sevmash" (Severodvinsk).

The kalitka, a gate or wicket, is a small door in the fence, intended to enter a fenced area (garden, cottage, warehouse, building, etc.). Most often made of metal and wood, it is widespread in rural areas. Design features of wickets are: simple structure, a minimum of structural materials.

The new Project 09851 'KHABAROVSK' (pr.09851 "Kalitka-SMP") submarine is similar to but smaller than the Project 955 'BOREI' SSBN with was as designed by the famous Rubin design bureau. Certain design features allow estimation of the dimensions of the boat. Working off a similar hull diameter to the BOERI we can estimate the submarine's length as 120m versus 160m for the BOREI. This makes sense as the KHABAROVSK does not require the missile section behind the sail. And it is even possible that it shares many components and even hull sections with the SSBN. The stated displacement of 10,000 tons makes it massive, but is much lighter than the 13,000 ton BOREI.

The television report on NTV, broadcast before President Vladimir Putin's meeting on the development of the defense industry, 'accidentally' showed visual material on the underwater Multipurpose System "Status-6". The top left showed the nuclear submarine being built, codename "Belgorod" Project 09852. To the right, a nuclear submarine being built with codename "Khabarovsk" Project 09851.

President Putins press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that the programs on several Russian TV channels, on the eve of the meeting devoted to the president on defense subjects, showed still- classified weapons systems. "We hope that this will not happen again," - said Peskov, reports "Interfax".

In the structure of the Ministry of Defense, the General Directorate operates a top-secret deep-sea research operation. It is engaged in the training of specialists in the field of deep-sea activities, carrying out research in the field of diving, monitoring the oceans and the search and rescue of wrecks. These submarines are contained in this jurisdiction.
