G-Bat Personnel Carrier
4X4 Light-weight air-droppable rapid reaction vehicle
The G-Bat body was designed and built in the Republic of South Africa. It is manufactured out of aluminium tabular sections with cladding that makes provision for add-on armour protection. The drive train components is the militarised version of the Mercedes Benz 290 GD chassis. This makes the G-Bat a formidable and highly mobile vehicle.
With the back-up of Daimler Chrysler Service infrastructure, the G-Bat life cycle cost are very efficient with service and spares available in many parts of the world. The vehicle is supplied in left or right hand drive configurations.
Transportation The compact design of the G-Bat, lends itself to various transportation options. The overall dimensions allow for a C130 aircraft to transport four G-Bat vehicles. The mass of the G-Bat also makes slinging by helicopter possible. Various air transport actions and air dropping trails were undertaken to prove the G-Bat and it's predecessors.
The design of the G-Bat lightweight structure allows for the attachment of add-on armour for various protection levels. Add-on armour kits are fitted in less than an hour to transform the G-Bat into a well protected frontal arc vehicle.
Depending on the role of this light strike vehicle, a wide choice of mounting interfaces for weapons are available.
