10th Infantry Regiment
The 10th Infantry Regiment was originally activated as the 10th Regiment on May 1, 1948 at Kangnung and was first commanded by Maj. Paik nam Kwon. The unit was initially assigned to the 4th Brigade, then the 6th Brigade and on June 20, 1949 it was reassigned to the 8th Division.
In February 1949, the 10th Regiment repulsed a North Korean attack in the Chankyori area. The 10th Regiment, in retaliation for the incursion, shelled a North Korean naval detachment at Kit'omunri and attacked a DPRK training center in Yangyang.
