82nd Reconnaissance Company
The 82nd Reconnaissance Company, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army was activated on 15 June of 1999 pursuant to General Order Number 370, Headquarters, Philippine Army dated 16 August 1999. It was placed under the Operational Control of 802nd Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. It was deployed and established its company Headquarters at Brgy Palale, Mac Arthur, Leyte. However, the company constantly moved around the province of the Leyte in support to the 8th Infantry Division's brigades.
In 2000, 2 Battalions of the Division was redeployed Mindanao in support of the AFP's campaign against the SPSG. The unit was redeployed to Brgy San Eduardo, Sta Rita, Western Samar and was then placed under the operational control of Task Force Leysam. In September 2000, the unit was then redeployed to Brgy Sawa, Basey, Western Samar to take control of CAFGU's and CVO's left behind by the 14th Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, which had moved to Mindanao.
In January 2001, as the 52nd Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army was recalled from Mindanao the unit was relocated to Brgy Urdaneta, Lavezares, Northern, Samar under the operational control of the 803rd Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. On 23 August 2001, the unit was again redeployed to the Island of Leyte at Brgy Santol, San Miguel, Leyte. On 28 August 2001, the unit was once again redeployed to Brgy Cantaba, Sta Rita, Western Samar placed again under the operational control of the 802nd Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
On 12 March 2002, the unit once again was placed under the operational control of the 803rd Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division. It established a separate command post at Brgy Cervantes, Catarman, Northern Samar on May 2002. On 1 September 2002, the unit was placed under the operational control of the 801st Infantry Brigade and established its company Hqs at Brgy Polangi, Taft, Eastern Samar. The unit made its mark in Taft by successfully routing the communist rebels at Brgy Mabini, Sulat, Eastern Samar.
On 14 December 2003, the unit was once again redeployed to Bgry Panayuran, Calbiga, Western Samar.
On August 2004, the unit was placed under the operational control of the 803rd Brigade and collocated its Company Command Post at Camp Sumoroy, Brgy Dalakit, Catarman, Northern Samar.
On 6 November 2004, the 82nd Reconnaissance Company served as the primary security force for the special elections at the Municipality of Silvino Lobos.
Once again on 29 January 2005 the unit discovered a communist rebel camp at Brgy Quezon, Catarman, Northern Samar and seizure of documents and other effects.
