6th Signal Battalion
6th Signal Company
"Get 'Em Through"

The mission of the 6th Singal Battalion is to provide communications electronics and information system support for the command and control of 6th Infantry Division.

6th Signal Battalion traces its lineage to 3rd Platoon, Brigade Support Signal Company, 3rd Signal Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. The platoon was placed on detached service with the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division stationed at the time at what later became Camp Brigadier General Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

On 1 May 1986, pursuant to General Orders Number 87, Headquarters Philippine Army, dated 21 May 1986, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division was redesignated as a the 12th Infantry Brigade (Separate). Consequently, the signal platoon was upgraded into a signal company with the mission of providing communication support and other signal requirements to the 12th Infantry Brigade (Separate). The personnel of the platoon became the nucleus of its personnel requirements, but the remaining personnel were graduates of signal courses coming from different infantry battalions, and received additional training from the company. As the company began to form the communication facilities at Camp Brigadier General Siongco were upgraded. The 2 and 8 GHz digital microwave radio for the Brigade's telephone system was installed and activated. Tactical radios were also upgraded allowing for contact between the Brigade headquarters and its battalions and supporting units. Other communication electronics hardware from higher headquarters were also issued to the unit.

On 24 October 1987, the 12th Infantry Brigade (Separate) was redesignated as the 6th Infantry Division, pursuant to General Orders Number 616, General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines, dated 19 November 1987. As a result the 6th Signal Company became a full signal battalion with the mission of providing support to Division Headquarters for communication between the Division Headquarters and its subordinate units and with higher headquarters. It was subsequently organized with 3 Companies: Headquarters and Headquarters Signal Company, Command Signal Company and Brigade Support Signal Company.
