4th Tactical Operations Wing
The 4th Tactical Operations Wing was the Philippine Air Force Component of the Western Command based at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Its mission was to conduct tactical air operations in support to the AFP forces within its area of responsibility. The Wing's also served as the forward deployment point for operations in Western Philippines and a launch pad for operations over the Kalayaan Chain of Islands. Deployed air assets included UH-1H, OV-10 and N-22B aircraft and were based at Antonio Bautista Air Base.
In 2006, the 4th Tactical Operations Wing was activated as part of a larger PAF reorganization, pursuant to General Orders Number 90, Headquarters, Philippine Air Force, dated 16 March 2006. The 4th Tactical Operations Wing was placed under the command of the Tactical Operations Command. The Wing took over the functions previously held in Palawan by the 570th Composite Tactical Wing. The 570th Composite Tactical Wing was reorganized and redesignated as the 570th Air Base Group and placed under the command of the 4th Tactical Operations Wing, along with Tactical Operations Group 7 and the 1310th Dental Dispensary.
In 2007, the 4th Tactical Operations Wing was inactivated and the 570th Air Base Group was reorganzied and redesignated again as the 570th Composite Tactical Wing, taking up its former post. This was part of a larger PAF reorganization that saw the Tactical Operations Command inactivated.
