25th Infantry Battalion
"Fireball"
The mission of the 25th Infantry Battalion, "Fireball," is to conduct sustained security operations against various anti-government groups in order to achieve an atmosphere of peace and stability conducive to economic growth and development within its area of responsibility.
The 25th Infantry Battalion traces its lineage to the 152nd Infantry Battalion (Provisional), activated as an element of Philippine Army reserves on 1 April 1973, pursuant to Section I, General Orders Number 242, Headquarters, Philippine Army, dated 31 March 1973. At the time of its activation the unit was attached to the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, pursuant to Section II, General Orders Number 242, Headquarters, Philippine Army, dated March 1973.
On 5 April 1973, The unit was redesignated as the 152nd Infantry Battalion, no longer a provisional unit, and took the name "Kamagong." The unit remained attached to the 1st Infantry Division, pursuant to Section III, General Orders Number 408, General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Section II, General Orders Number 257, dated 21 April 1973.
On 16 April 1973, the unit was converted into the 25th Infantry Battalion, pursuant to Section V, General Orders Number 267, Headquarters, Philippine Army, dated 21 April 1973. On 15 July 1973 the unit was assigned to 4th Infantry Division and deployed to Cotabato for combat operations. On 18 July 1973 the unit was again reassigned, this time to the 6th Infantry Brigade (Separate) at Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. The unit was subsequently reassigned to elements of the 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, and then finally to the 12th Infantry Brigade (Separate), which subsequently became the 6th Infantry Division on 1 April 1986.
