208th Helicopter Squadron
"Daggers"
The 208th Tactical Helicopter Squadron, the "Daggers," are based at Brigadier General Benito Ebuen Air Base, Lapu-lapu City. The unit's mission is to provide airlift and air support to quick reaction units of AFP counter insurgency and unconventional warfare operations. Its specific functions include: Transporting and evacuating quick reaction personnel by helilift or paradrop to designated areas of operation; conducting limited close air support, reconnaissance and aerial supply operations in support of surface forces; infiltrating enemy held territory and collecting combat/air tactical intelligence; performing organizational maintenance of assigned aircraft and limited field maintenance of armament and related system; performing organizational maintenance on assigned aircraft; and performing other functions as maybe directed by higher headquarters. The unit operates in the Visayas and Palawan, providing much needed inter-island heli-lift capability.
With the reactivation of the 2nd Air Division in 2001, the 208th Tactical Helicopter Squadron was placed under its operational control.
