207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron
207th Helicopter Squadron
The 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron is based in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base. The Stingers provide the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing presence in Luzon. Like the other tactical squadrons of the 205th, they have proved their value as more than just an instrument for combat, but also as a valuable resource in disaster relief operations and nation building activities.
In April 2005 a UH-1H of the 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron crashed during a mission to Aurora province to conduct an aerial inspection of damage sustained during landslides and flooding during 2004. The crew and passengers were killed. The accident was cited by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as a reason to look into the status of UH-1 helicopters throughout the PAF. As a result of the crash the entire fleet, 18 aicraft at the time, were grounded.
